Want dirty hands and a big smile?

I've had a number of my customers comment that they would like to be able to make grips themselves, or at least participate.  I am thinking of offering a "Grip kit" that would include a profiled pair of grips with all the required holes, but which still needed to be sanded smooth and finished.  Also in the kit would be the necessary abrasives and some oil for finishing.  Sold separately would be a fixture for securely holding the grips while being worked on.  There is a lot of satisfaction to be found in bringing a pair of grips to life...especially in  the final stages of sanding and polishing.

Anyone have interest in this concept?

A Firearms Genius

John Browning holding a semi-auto .22 rimfire rifle.

Speaking of design...  The 45 cal. 1911semi-automatic pistol was placed into service in 1911; hence the name. But John Moses Browning first patented the gun April 20, 1897. One hundred and fifteen years later, it is still one of the best and most popular handguns available, being produced by a number of manufacturers. John Browning was born and had his first shop in Morgan Utah, about fifty miles north of where I live.

The Browning Arms Company is still located in Morgan and is a continuing supporter of the John M Browning Firearms Museum housed in the Union Station in nearby Ogden.  It is amazing what John Browning invented.  Truly a legend in the firearms industry.

Fine Craftsmanship

The image below is an especially nice set of desert ironwood grips.  I was able to get three pairs out of the block of wood, but I wish I could have gotten more.  I had more people that wanted them than wood available.

Above is a pair of amboyna grips on a customer's gun.

Visit my website, Challis Grips and have a look around.
